She passed from this life on October 14, 1989, in Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City, at the age of seventy-five years. Leona attended the Aledo School near her home. She spent her childhood years on the family farm tow miles west of Aledo, and along with her parents, her sisters and brothers, endured the hardships as well as the many joys that were typicla of most families during the depression and the Dust Bowl Days. The Aledo School building also serv ed as a place of worship and also for many other community gaterings, during these early years. On November 26, 1932, Leona Addington and Clarence M. Adams were united in marriage at Arapaho, Oklahoma. The home was established in the Leedey area, and in this area Mr. and Mrs. Adams has resided during the fifty-seven years of their marriage, deeply interested in the development and the welfare of their community. Mrs. Adams enjoyed her role as a farm wife, help-mate, and home-maker, a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed as special hobbies: ceramics, quilting, and baking. Leona made her commitment of faith in the Saviour during the early years of her life, was baptised, and is a member of the Leedey First United Methodist Church. To her faith; she has remained true through the years. She was also a member of the Leedey Senior Citizens Organizations. Mrs. Adams was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, whose love and kindness has been an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jay D. Addington, two sisters, Rosa Lee Martin and Viola Williams, an infant brother, James Addington, an infant grandson, and one daughter-in-law, Gerladine Adams. She is survived by her husband, Clarence M. Adams, of the home in Leedey, two sons, Vernon Lee and wife, Gwen of Moore, and Larry Marvin of Edmond, and one daughter, Quanah Cummins and husband, Leon of lindsey, niewn grandhildren; four sisters, Anna Mae Baumgartner of Lodi, California, Naomi Touchstone of Leedey, Pauline Williams of Kimble, Nebraska, and loretta Haney of Leedey; three brothers J. C. Addington of Butler, Edgar Addington of Leedey, and Everett Addington, also of Leedey; one uncle, several nieces and nephews, other loved ones, and a great circle of friends. Services were at the First United Methodist Church of leedey on Tuesday October 17, 1989 at 2;00 p.m. Officiating were Jess Willsie, Pastor of Leedey United Methodist Church, Gary Baird, Pastor of Leedey First Baptist Church. Casketbearers were: Curtis Adams, Keith Adams, Kevin Cummins, Kris Cummins, Kurt Cummins, and Bobby Jones. The interment was at New Hermon Cemetery of Leedey.
