The retired farmer/rancher went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, May 26, 1991, at the age of 80. He came to Okalhoma at age 6 with his parents, Graville W. and Emma (Bast) Allen. He married Vonnie Damron in Cheyenne on July 5, 1931. They made their home and raised their family in the Herring Community. Bill and Vonnie moved to Elk City in 1972. After his retirement on July 30, 1985, he remained active in farming and ranching as he could with his sons. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vonnie Allen; two sons, Billy and Elray Allen of Oklahoma City, Joe and Shirley Allen of Elk City; four grandchildren, Gregory and Gaye, Jean Allen, Jo Brenda and Jim Rogers, Kelly Kay Allen, Martha and Tim Jones; three great- grandchildren; one brother, Jesse Allen of Hammon; three sisters, Addie Spurlock of Elk City, Murl Gwartney of Hammon and Irene Linebarger of Tulare, Calif,; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and neighbors. Mr. Allen as a young man made a profession of faith and was baptised in the First Baptist Church of Hammon. He became a member of the First Baptist Church in Elk City when they moved from the Herring community. His life will be celebraated at a service in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home in Elk City at 2 p.m., Wednesday, with Rev. Dennis Taylor of Moore and Rev. Neal Helmbacher of Elk City, with burial following in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, OK.
