She was born November 19, 1921 in Eldorado, Oklahoma to Carey F. and Florence E. Hines Cotton. She attended Eldorado Schools and Altus Junior College, graaduating the day before she was married. She married Lee Allen, May 18, 1941 at Eldorado. He preceded her in death October 14, 2001. Dorothy was active in the "Home Demonstration Club" having won blue ribbons in the county fair for her canning. She loved plants and also worked side by side with her husband during wheat harves. She joined the Lake Creek Baptist Church in 1941, after her marriage and was active in Church and Community activities. She taught Sunday School and Bible Drill. Some of her students went on to become National Champions. She was a community nurse and loved helping people; she was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, she was a great humanitarian. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carey and Florence, her husband, Lee, a daughter Sharon Kay Allen, a son Carey Lee Allen; and an infant daughter. She is survived by one son, Terry Lee Allen of Edmond, Oklahoma; two daughters, Flo Jean Whitehead of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Dorothy Linda Allen of Sunrise Beach, Texas; five grandchildren, Sharon Daniel, Ryan Reed, Bradley Reed, David Crow and Jana Crow; and eight great grandcfhildren, John, Michael , Hayley and Madison Daniel and Daniel, Alyssa, Ashley and Larry Reed'; and her late "Guy". Funeral services were scheduled Friday, July 12, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lake Creek Baptist Church with C.R. Tucker and Alvin Bunkhouse officiating. Burial was followed in the Granite City Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolfe.
