He was born in Salem, Dent County, Missouri, October 12, 1871, departed this life February 9, 1936, at his home at Herring, Oklahoma, at the age of 64 years, 3 months, 28 days. He had been ill for several months. He was married to Emma E. Bast on May 2, 1892. To this union were born 4 boys and 5 girls. One boy preceding him in death at the age of 13 months. All of the family and only brother were present at his bedside, when the end came, except Mrs. Perry Linebarger of Delano, California. Mr. Allen was one of the pioneers of Oklahoma, and his friends were numbered by those who knew him. He will, be greatly missed in our community, as he was always ready and willing to assist anyone in troubled and sorrow, and for the up building of our community. Those left to mourn his passing are, his wife, Mrs. Emma Allen, Mrs. Ruthy Evans, Reydon, Oklahoma; Mrs. O.M. Spurlock, Hammon, Oklahoma; Mrs. Perry Linebarger, Delano, California; Mrs. Ted Gwartney, Hammon, Oklahoma; Mrs. H.H. Jones, Beeville, Texas; John Allen, Beeville, Texas; Bill and Jesse Allen, both of Hammon; thirteen grand-children, and seven great grand children; one brother, J.F. Allen of Hammon, Oklahoma, and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was held at Hammon in the Baptist Church, then the remains were taken to Blair and buried beside his father and mother. A Friend.
