Steward. She passed away December 19, 2005 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 12 days. At the age of 2, Ferne moved with her family to the Three Corners community in Roger Mills County. She attended a two room school at Three Corners and went to high school at Liberty Center. Her parents owned a dairy and she helped milk cows morning and night and also helped work in the fields. In 1932, she was married to Paul Allen and they travewled coast to ccoast following his work. In 1946, they returned to Roger Mills County aand settled in Strong City where they pruchased a farm and operated a dairy. She later was employed with the Cheyenne Care Center and remained there for 20 years until her retirement in 1989 as the Business Manager. In 1993, she moved to Cheyenne to make her home. Ferne loved and enjoyed flowers and gardening and was a wonderful seamstress. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, John J. Steward, one sister Ilo Fane Walker and a grandson, Monte Allen. The family would like to give special thanks to her caretakers, Zelda Payne, Wanda Bradley, Francis Scroggins, Marcella Cerlock and Linda Eakins. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanie Eakins and husband, Gene of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Paulette Moad and husband, Joe, of Yukon, Oklahoma; one son, Leon "Mickey" Allen and wife, Janice, of Huntsville, Alabama, six grandchilddren, Brad Lee Allen of Huntsville, Alabama, Nikki Eakins of Kansas City, Missouri, Lindsay Eakins of Kansas City, Missouri, Kyle Wesner of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Lane Wesner of Yukon, Oklahoma, Joseph Moad of Yukon, Oklahoma; one great granddaughter, Mia R'Voal Eakins of Kansas City, Missouri, one great grandson, William McGuire of Hurst, Texas, one brother-in-law, Calvin Walker of Jones, Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Strong City Baptist Church officiated by Brother Calvin Walker and J.C. Walker. Burial wil be at Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne.
