Died Norman, Oklahoma March 23, 2005 of heart faillure. Married Shirley Conrad on October 16, 1943 in Pine Bluff, Arkansaw. Served in Army U.S. (Air Force) 1-29-43 to 8-4-46. Entered as aviation cadet, graduated as 2nd Lt, pilot 4-14-44. Served in South Pacific 13th Air Force, 403rd Troop Carrier command, 13th squadron. Discharged as 1st Lt. attended Southwestern State University prior to service in Air Force 1946. graduated with a B.S. degree, majoring Business, in 1947. Taught school at Hammon, Oklahoma High School 1947-48. Attended University of Oklahoma 1948-49. Accounting and Business - no degree. Received Oklahoma CPA Certificate in 1951. Worked for Belt, Bums & Co. CPA's, Ponca City, Oklahoma 1949-1951. Worked for Conoco Inc., June 1, 1951-March 1, 1983. Retired 3-1-83. Spent last 22 years with Conoco in New York in Stamford, Conn. Member American Institue of Certified Public Accountants since 1952. Named honorary member in 1992 for more than 40 years of membership. Member American Petroleum Institute, Joint Committee on Taxation, 1952- 1983. Chairman of the Joint Committee 1971-72. Moved to Oklahoma City from Conn. 1983; moved to Norman in 1986. Member Goodrich Memorial United Methodist church, United Methodist Men, Goodrich Chronologically Gifted, and Adult Discussion Class. Preceded in death by his morther and father, a daughter, Cathy, and a brother Boyd. Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley; one son, John and wife Nuan of Thailand; 2 daughters, Saren Murrey and husband Jim of Naperville, llinois, and Ellen Alexander of Montclair, New Jersey; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Memorial service w! as held at Goodrich United Methodist Church 200 West Hayes, Norman, Oklahoma Saturday March 26, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations were requested to the Goodrich United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
