Virgil was one of the ten boys who left here April 15, 1917 to join the navy and national guards. He was sent to the Mexican border at El Paso, Texas, where he was in training. He was apparently getting along well until he took the measles. Then pneumonia set in. A telegram was sent to his parents here at Strong City Monday, stating that he was near the point of death. Mr. J.H. Anderseon, his father, started at once for El Paso, but arrived there to late to see his son while he yet lived. Virgil was only seventeen years old, and it is sadly rergetted that one so young and with so many promising years before him, should come to this death so soon. His bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
