On March 26, 1984 Mrs. Archer suffered a heart attack at Hydro Nursing Home and was taken to the Weatherford hospital, where she remained for seven days until her death. She was buried at Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma following the funeral held at the Baptist Church in Cheyenne at 2:00 p.m. April 5, 1984. Olive Martha Pike Archer was born and grew up near Graysville, Missouri. At the age of 19 years on March 31, 1903 she was married to Calvin C. Archer of Glendale, Missouri. The young couple the following day boarded the train to Elk City, Oklahoma. There they filed a homestead claim and settled in the Three Corner District about 10 miles east of Roll. This was prior to Oklahoma statehood and was known as "Oklahoma Territory." For the first year of their marriage their first home was a "dugout" with a thatch roof and dirt walls and floor. Later Mr. Archer built their first house, consisting of one room. This had a real roof, real walls and a real floor. A great improvement. In this rural community Mrs. Archer gave birth to eleven children. One child, a daughter, was lost at age 2. The remaining ten grew to adulthood. Twenty years ago in 1964 at the age of 84, Mr. Calvin Archer passed away and since then Mrs. Archer has lost her first three children: Lawrence Archer of Sayre, Oklahoma; Loyd Archer of.
