The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Funeral services for Shirley Arteberry will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Home of Sayre with Rev. Lynn Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home. Shirley was born November 27, 1911 in Hooker to Shirley and Lettie Olivia McLaury Gardner and died Wednesday September 29, 1999 at the age of 87. She came from Hooker to Grimes with her family. She attended Joseph's School and then married Dave Arteberry on November 19, 1930 in Elk City. They established their home on a faarm near New Liberty and then in the late 40's moved to Sayrte where she has lived until entering the nursing home. Her and her family worked and owned a Drive Inn Restaurant, a Hobby Shop, and a Ford Tractor Dealership. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; two daughters, Clyda Ellen Reynolds and Lettie Joan Fuchs; one sister, Frankie Thompson and one brother, G.G. McLaury. Survivors include four children, Gardner Arteberry and his wife June of Leawood, Kansas, Mattie Gail Tompson and her husband Gale of Erick, Davey Sue Thomas and her husband Larry G. of Pueblo West, Colorado and Frankie Diana Franklin of Elk City; twenty-two grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
