The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Essie Bell Armstrong was born September 8, 1904 in Walcott, Green County, Arkansas, the fifth child of Hattie and George Armistead. She departed this life December 24, 1994 in the Erick nursin Home at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 16 days. She came to Erick about 1920 before marrying Paul Gresham Armstrong on March 23, 1923. Together, they owned and operated Paul's Cleaners until his health forced them to sell the business in 1973. Essie lived most of her adult life in Erick until moving to Sayre in 1976. In 1978, she moved back to Erick remaining there until January of 1982 when she moved to the Sayre Retirement Ceneter. In November of 1990, she returned to Erick and resided at the Erick Nursing Home until her death. She was a member of the Erick Church of Christ, but due to her health and while living at Sayre, she was unable to attend for many years. During the time she was in the Sayre Retirement Center, she regularly attended the services brough to residents by the member and staff of Spring Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, Bessie and Telsa, 3 brothers, Roscoe, Joe and John Mack and most of all of her and Paul's friends. She is survived by 2 daughters Georgia Nell Pennington, Fort Worth, Texas and Kay Hawkins, Amarillo, Texas; 3 sons, Paul G. Armstrong, Jr., Erick, Oklahoma, Clyde Armstrong, LaJunta, Colorado, and Mike Armstrong, Elk City, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and their families, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 1994 at the Fatheree- Albert Chapel officiated by Char5les Tatyrek. Interment was in the Erick Cemetery, Erick, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Fatheree- Albert Funeral Home. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
