Albert C. Trent of Frederick, Okla. officiating. Burial followed in the Kiowa Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Mr. Baggett was fatally injured in a one car accident located 15 miles east of Grants, New Mexico, Wednesday, June 22, 1978. He and his brother, Ted Baggett, were enroute home from attending the funeral services of a brother-in-law in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Baggett was born in St. Augustine, Texas December 19, 1896, he was 80 years of age. His resident address was 411 W. Second St. He moved to Oklahoma Territory in 1900 settling in Ellis County and spent most of his life in western Okalhoma. He was married to Estella Rogers at Arapaho, Okla. on June 18, 1921 and she preceded him in death March 3, 1968. Newman graduated from the Hammon High School in 1921 and attended Southwestern College at Weatherford acquiring his degree from Central State Unviersity at Edmond, Okla. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served his country during WW I overseas. He was a member of the retired teachers association and a lifetime member of the O.E.A. He taught school for 30 years retiring in 1961 when he moved to Elk City, where he has lived since. Survivors include: 4 sons, Harold of Oklahoma City, OK, Clifford of Butler, Okla., Raymond of Vian, Okla., Floyd of Balko, Okla. Three sisters: Mrs. Eula Knight of Amarillo, Texas, Mrs. Lorene McGown of Hawaii, Mrs. Fern Burns of Garland, Texas. Four brothers: Ted of Elk City, Okla., Cecil of Sentinel, Okla., John of Modesto, California, and Bonda of Conroe, Texas. 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by one daughter. --------------------------------------------------------------------
