The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Funeral services for Fred Baxter were conducted Thursday, February 9, 1995 at 2 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Chapel with Rev. A.L. Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home. Fred Oliver Baxter was born May 7, 1914 in Durham, klahoma to Robert and Ada Fossett Baxter and passed away Tuesday February 7, 1995 aat the age of 80. Fred graduated from Durham High School and was married to Geneva Bayless on April 18, 1937 in Durham. He was engaged in livestock transportation and moved to Elk City in 1944. In 1950, the Baxter's moved to Cheyenne where they owned and operated the Baxter Propane Company and the Ford Agency. The moved back to Elk City in 1960 where they owned and operated the Western Motel unil 1971 when they moved to Huntsville, Alabama. They returned to Elk City in 1985 where they have lived since. Fred had a special interest in mucical instrumetns but his favorite pasttime were his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife: Geneva Baxter of the Elk City home and one daughter; Janell Gause and her husband Raymond of arab, Alabama. And two grandchildren: Shari Tice of Birmingham, Alabama and Randy K. Gause of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Two great grand-sons; one sister Viola Vandiver of Dalhart, Texas and one sister-in-laws, Dr. Ruth Baxter of Galveston, Texas. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
