He was the 16 year old son of J.M. Beauchamp, living about 15 miles northeast of Strong City. The boy was at work in the field when the accident occured. He had taken a single barrel shot with him to the field with which to shoot rabbits. He was running a riding lister and carrying the gun with him. It seems in working a lever to throw the plow out of the ground that the gun fell, the trigger probably hitting the wheel or a spoke of the lister. The gun was discharged and the shot hit him near the chin, coming out through the top of his head. The team was not frightened, but walked on to the house with the boy still hanging with the lister. The family did not know of the accident until the team had come up to the house. Mr. Beauchamp, the father of the boy had come to Strong City, and had just got here when the sad news was phoned to him. The neighbors all say that Jesse was a good boy, hard working and industrious. The Herals joins with their friends and relatives in extending sympathy and condolence to the bereaved and family in their sad misfortune.
