Funeral services was held Friday, February 6, 1981 at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, with Rev. Lewis Holland, pastor, officiating. Burial in the Canadian Cemetery. Jess Bessire was born May 24, 1907 at Rankin, Oklahoma. He was a retired barber. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Bessire, early settlers Southwest of Reydon. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Oscar, Earnest, William and Eddie Bessire and one sister, Clara Forrest and one son. Surviving him is his wife, Juanita of the home of one son, Ben Bessire, Canadian, one daughter, Anita Rutherford, Hays Center, Nebraska, one brother Leo Bessire, Ulysses, Kansas, thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
