Beaty were conducted in Cheyenne Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church of this city. Preaching the funeral sermon was Rev. J.H. bradley of Lexington, Okla., a former Cheyenne Pastor who had know Mrs. Beaty. Burial was in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County under the direction of the Scoggins Funeral Home of this city. Mrs. Laura A. Beaty had resided in Cheyenne from 1892 until 1946 when she went to Odessa, Texas to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Willie Martin. She was born August 4, 1862 in Coryell County, Texas and died November 9, 1950 at Odessa, Texas. Mrs. Beaty came to Cheyenne with her husband, the late W.C. Beaty, in 1892. Here they reared their family and were active in promoting the development of this country. Mrs. Beaty was an aggressive business woman and for many years was engaged in the mercantile business in Cheyenne. In her later years she constructed several residences in this city and supervised their renting. Mrs. Beaty was among those early day pioneers who stood for the better things of life. She was active in founding the Cheyenne Baptist church and was a charter member of this church and held continuous membership until her death. She was never afraid to take her stand upon any civic question and could always be found on the side of right. She sought the better things of life and her home was one which contributed a refining influence upon the early life of Cheyenne. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Willie Martin of Odessa, Texas and one grandson, Albert Fields Beaty of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. --------------------------------------------------------------------
