The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ==================================================================== Surnames: Beatty, Pippin, Chandler While at work last Tuesday foremoon, Clinton accidentlly fell into a 60-foot well at Southard, Oklahoma and everything done to bring him back to life, but he remained unconscious, dying at 5:00 p.m. that same day, December 8, 1925, aged 23 years and 23 days. Robert Clinton Beatty, son of John R. and Ella Beatty was born at Rankin, Oklahoma, Nov. 15, 1903. Clinton grew up in our midst attending the Rankin school and living on his father's homestead until the fall of 1918, when his parents moved to Oklahoma City where Clinton finished his schooling. Clinton was married June 6, 1923 to Opal Pippin, who with one baby survives with his parents, one brother, William Allen Beatty, and one sister Mrs. Lucy Chandler of Rankin, Oklahoma. At the time of Clinton's fall his brother Allen worked the windlass that sent another workman down to the bottom of the well and had Clinton out of the well in three minutes since his fall; he fell foremost and his feet sank into the dry snad to above his knees; this well was being dug by a public works for a water supply; and a cavein at top caused the fall. While his death was sudden, and sad to all his loved ones and friends, Clinton had confessed his faith in Christ and his Savior by becoming a member of the Presbyterian church, and later transferring his membership to the Methodist Church, Oklahoma City. The funeral services were held in Southard, Baline County at the home of Allen Beatty, by Rev. Hubbard Burch, pastor of the Southard community church at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday; and early next morning, the Motored hearse and six autos with the families, the pastor and young men pall-bearers, made the over 100 mile drive from Southard to Rankin, Oklahoma for the burial. Another service was held in the Rankin Methodist Church by Rev. Burch, assisted by Rev. J.M. Shaw, local pastor. Burial in the Rankin (White Rose) cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma just before the sun went down, Thursday, Dec. 10, 1925, beside Bob's sister, Ethel's grave. --------------------------------------------------------------------
