Boyett was born May 14, 1942 in Rattan, Oklahoma to Eva and Odis Boyett. He passed away September 12, 2000 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 53 years, 3 months and 28 days. For a short time in the 1950's the family moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma, then later moved back to Rattan. At the age of 18, Jesse moved to California and worked in the logging industry. In 1963, he met Joy Fern Whitson of Cheyene and they married on February 18, 1964. That same year, they made their home in Hoops, California where they lived for eight and a half years. They moved back to Cheyenne in the fall of 1972 where they have remained. Jesse worked for the railroad for a short time and was later self-employed in the oilfied as owner of Boyett's Forklift, and also farmed. He worked for Roger Mills County from January 1993 until February 1999. He was a member of Cheyenne Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, L.V. Boyett. He is survived by his wife Fern of the home; two daughters and sons- in-law, Arlinda and Tom Shelton of Cabool, Missouri and Lawanda and Mike Bogle of Edmond, Oklahoma; one son, Cameron Boyett of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Toni Taylor, Jesse and Kyle Shelton, Tyler, Ashley and Amanda Bogle; his mother, Eva Boyett, of Rattan, Oklahoma; three sisters, Lillie Arms of Hopland, California, Nadine Thomas of Antler, Oklahoma, and Mary Arpealler, Rattan, Oklahoma; three brothers, J.T. Boyett, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Glen Boyett of Amarillo, Texas, and Harlan Boyett of Rattan, Oklahoma; along with many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Services were held Friday, September 15, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Juanice Parkhurst.
