Tim Franks officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Josie Pearl Bodey was born February 4, 1925 in Moorewood, Oklahoma to Frank Otto and Edna Pearl Bell Sherwood and died Monday March 31, 2003 at the age of 78. She taught school for 20 years in the states of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, Texas and Kansas. Her last eight years teaching were in the fields of special education. Josie was "Teacher of the Year while teaching M.R. and L.D. in Erick. She received her BS Degree in Elementary Education and double M.S. Degree in M.R. and L.D. at Southwestern Oklahoma Statea University in Weatherford. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Frankie; and one sister, Nellie Lester. Survivors include three children, Sheri Allen and her husband, Ricky of Hammon, Jana Austin and her husdband, Rusty of Erick, Oklahoma and Terry Bodey and his wife, Virgginia of Elk City, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one brother, Durward Sherwood and wife, Louisa of Hammon, Oklahoma; and three sisters, Cora Hawkins of Chickasha, Betty Maxwell and her husband, C leo of Rosamond, California, and Frances Ferrell and her husband, Fred of Leedey, Oklahoma.
