The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ==================================================================== Surnames: Batchelor, Devere, Short, Dare, McCune, Haven, Matthews Fannie Corena Devere Batchelor, who was known by the old timers and settler of Woodward and Roger Mills counties, was born in Sullivan County, Missouri, May 16, 1877. She passed away at her home near Durham, Oklahoma, May 25, 1950, at the age of 73 years and 10 days. She was married to Lonza John Batchelor, October 18, 1893 in Oletha, Kansas. To this union ten children were born. Survivors include five daughters: Mary Short, Fargo, Oklahoma, Minnie Dare, Tempe, Arizona, Jennie King, Reydon, Oklahoma, Myrtle McCune, Atchinson, Kasas, Irma Haven, Durham, Oklahoma; two sons, William H. Batchelor and Frank Batchelor both of Cheyenne. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter and two sons. She leaves 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, one sister, Nellie Matthews, living in Carthage, Mo., and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Batchelor moved with her husband and four children from Kansas to their homestead near Woodward, Oklahoma, where they lived until 1910, after which time they moved to the Meadow Brook community in Roger Mills county, Oklahoma, and lived therre until 1935. Since that time Mrs. Batchelor has resided in the Reydon and Durham communities until her death. Neighbors and friends will remember Mrs. Batchelor as one who was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She stood for high morals, honesty and true friendship. After her confession of Christ in 1927, she joined the Methodist church and found great comfort in reading God's Divine Word. At 2:30 P M May 28, 1950 services were conducted by Rev. E.E. Hatey of Strong City in the Methodist church of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. She was laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma by Scroggins Funeral home. --------------------------------------------------------------------
