Batchelor was born December 30, 1863 in Huntington County, Indiana. He departed this life June 7, 1935 at the age of 71 years 5 months and 9 days. He was married to Miss Fannie Cora Devere October 18, 1892 at Edgerton, Kansas. To this union were born ten children who are: Lonnie, Ray and Alice who have passed on before him; Mrs. Mary Short, Fargo, Oklahoma; Mrs. Minnie Dare, Portales, New Mexico, Mrs. Jennie Mae King, Reydon, Oklahoma; Mrs. Myrtle McCune, Leavenworth, Kansas, Mrs. Irma Haven, Reydon, Oklahoma; Bill Batchelor and Frank Batchelor of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. All these except the daughter residing in Kansas were present at the funeral. Besides these children and his wife he leaves three brothers, Perry of Woodward, Oklahoma; William of Leavenworth, Kansas and Frank of Coffeyville, Kansas and one sister Mrs. John Clark of Linwood, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Bro. Batchelor came to Woodward County and homesteaded. After living there ten years he moved his family to Roger Mills county in the Meadow Brook community living there 24 years. On December 3th of last year he moved to his son Frank's and later to thed home of his daughter, Mrs. King of Reydon where he spednt his latter days. Neighbors and friends will remember Bro. Batchelor as a man who stood for high morals, honesty andfriedndship and as a builder in the community in which he lived. In thed last days Bro. Batchelor found great comfort in having God's divine word redad to him by loved ones and friends. Mr. Batchelor made a confession of Christ before his death. Services were held in the Methodist church of Cheyenne conducted by Rev. J.I. Clinton of Reydon. The remains were laid to rest in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
