"Larry" Ballou was born August 10, 1916 in Ulysses, Kansas to Elizabeth and Luther Ballou. He went to be with the Lord September 25, 2000 in the Cheyenne Care Center at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 15 days. He was married to Bernice Myra Milan at Indinapolis, Indiana on August 16, 1936. They lived in Indianapolis before moving to California in 1937 where Larry served his country during World War II at Fiber U Metal in Downey, California. He was the Superintendent of the plant that manufactured rievets for the defense effort. Every week Larry would try to enlist in the Army, and every week they would send him back to the factory. After the war the small family moved to Centerville, Washington where they bought a farm. After about a year, they sold the farm and moved to Klickatat, Washington where he worked in a sawmill. In 1947 the family returned to California before moving to Cheyenne, Oklahoma on January 1, 1948 where they purchased their home place. Their two younger children were born in Oklahoma. Larry loved his family, friends and cows. He was able to do what he loved to do until the last two months of his life. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin babies; one sister, Donna; and one brother, Jake. His survivors are his wife, Bernice, of the home; two daughters, Janice Thompson and husband, Jack, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, and Debra Lewis and husband, Kit, of Duke, Oklahoma; one son, Kirk Ballou and wife, Marsha, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mary and Jack Boarman and Phyllis Thomason, all of Sun City, Arizona; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Elk City First Baptist Church Chapel, officiated by Curby Boone and Rev. Neal Helmbacher. Burial was at Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savaage Funeral Service. --------------------------------------------------------------------
