She passed away Wednesday, February 17, 1991 in Elk City Hospital, Elk City, OK, at the age of seventy-two years. Lena attended The Diamond Front School near her childhood home and grew to maturity in this community. On October 8, 1940, Lena Levena Shockey and Roy D. Blackketter were united in marriage at Sayre, Okalhoma. They began this new life in the Leedey Community and were engage in farming and ranching throughout their lives. Mrs. Blackketter and husband Roy, were the parents of two daughters, Mary Jane and Norma Dell, and four sons, Roy David, Lee, James and Robert. Her family and her home were her special interests. She was an accomplished seamstress and a specialist with foods. Her canning and baking products were awarded many blue ribbons at various fairs. In addition to these intersts, her chosen hobbies were fishing and horse back riding. She enjoyed these outdoor interests and hobbies and was efficient in both. She attended both The Red Star Church and The Baptist Church, enjoying the love and the fellowship which she found in both. Mrs. Blackkettter was a loving wife and mother, and a gracious friend and neightbor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grover Shockey, her husband, Roy D. Blackketter, one sister, Marth Bell Johnston, three brothers, John, Leon and Troy Shockey, and one great grandchild. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jane Blackketter of Leedey, and Norma Dell Moler of Cheyenne, OK, Three sons, Roy David of Strong City, Lee, of Leedey, and James of Denver, CO. Two brothers, Orville Shockey of Gentry, Arkansas and Glen Shockey of Leedey, OK. One sister, Rozell Montgomery of Elk City, twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. The services was held in the Red Staar Brethren In Christ Church of Leedey on Friday, March 1, 1991 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Stan Norman officiating.
