Blanton, Jr., were conducted Friday, April 10, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Methodist Church with Dr. Gary Harber and Rev. Roy C. Rowlan officiating. Burial followed in the Fairlawn Cemetey, Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Frank J. Banton Jr. was born August 15, 1933 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Frank J. and Vera Shotwell Blanton and passed away Monday, Arpirl 6, 1998 at the age of 64. He graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1951 and then spent 2 years in the service. After his discharge Frank continued his education at SWOSU where he graduated as a Pharmacist in 1957. He put himself through school riding bulls and bareback broncs on the professional rodeo circuit. He was married to Lora Faye Akridge on May 26, 1957. To this union 4 children were born, Karen, Allen, Diana, and Steven. Frank owned a drug store in Post, Texas and then later moved to Silver City, New Mexico and then reitred in Elk City where he did some relief pharmacy work. He was an active member of the Lions Club for some 30 years, the American Legion and Legion Baseball; Elks Club and The United Methodist Church of Elk City. Survivors include his wife, Lora Blanton of the Elk City home, 4 children; Karen Blanton of Elk City; Allen Blanton of Silver City, New Mexico, Diana Blanton of Phoenixviolle, PE, and Steven Blanton and his wife Cyndi of Silver City, New Mexico and 5 grandchildren, Jonathan Blanton, Tenisha Blanton, Kashlee Blanton, Cody Blanton and Justin Blanton and 2 brothers, Ed Blanton of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Don Blanton of Midwest City, Oklahoma.
