Blurton age 96, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004. Services were held Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Robert Bell. Burial was at Ochitree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton, Texas. John was born in Crawford, Oklahoma on March 7, 1918. He married Winifred Morris on November 21, 1941 in Gray, Oklahoma. He worked for a Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America at Gray, Oklahoma. He retired in 1983. He served with the 4th Infantry in combat on Attu Island, Alaska. After returning from military service in 1945. He was employed by Ochitree County maintaining County roads. He was a member of the V.F.W. Wheatheart Shriners and Ochitree County Senior Citizens Association. Survivors include Winifred Blurton, wife, Perryton, Texas; 4 daughters Beverly Merchant, Irving, Texas, Barbaara Vance, Dallas, Texas, Verna Blurton, Dallas, Texas, Wanda Street, Alexandria, Virginia. 3 grandchildren, Tracie Merchan, Lexye Street and Samuel Street. 3 sisters Ruby Klein of Monroe City, Missouri, Arlee Githens, Perryton, Texas, Gean Barnett, Phoenix, Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lula Blurton, 1 sister and 1 brother. The family requests memorials to Opportunity Plan, P.O.
