The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ==================================================================== Obit for Mary Alta Folks Bullard Mary Alta Folks Bullard, the daughter of Joseph Cannon and Della Folks, was born in Montague, County, TX, January 28, 1896. At about the age of eleven, she moved with her parents to the new and unsettled land around Crawford, Oklahoma. In this new home land she met and later married Floyd Bullard of Grand, Oklahoma. Life may have been hard, but very rewarding and productive. To this union was born four children, Clarnece Bullard of Spokane, Washington; Neal Bullard of Arnett and Waanda Hicks of Arnett and Juanita Chesnut who preceded her in death. Floyd and Alta lived in the bend of the South Canadian River until they moved to Old Grande in 1922, and lived in that community until 1941. At that tiem they moved northeast of Arnett. Floyd and Alta continued to farm her until moving into Arnett in 1955. They remained a happy couple here until Floyd's death November 16, 1966. Alta was alway a very active person taking a special interest in fishing, quilting and gardening. Through the years, her faith in God led her to become a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years and where she remained a member until her death. Alta is survived by one brother, Bell of Belen, New Mexico; a sister, Zell Brown of Gage, Oklahoma; two sons, Clarence Bullard of Spokane, Washington and Neal Bullard of Arnett, Oklahoma; one dauhghter, Wanda Hicks of Arnett, ten grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Alta Bullard was a special person, taking time to relate many of the sotries of the old frontier to those sho would listen. She was happy to share what she had grown from her garden with others and showing that special kindness that was just her way. She leaveds behind many friends and relatives, and leaves an emplty place which can not be replaced. Funeral services for Alta Bullard were held Saturday, May 16, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist church of Arnett, Oklahoma, with Jerry Hodges officiating. Casket Bearers were Jeff Bullard, Craig Chesnut, Clinton Davis, Rod Hicks, Larry Poindexter and Mike Poindexter. Honorary Bearers were: Dylan Bullard, Scottie Chesnut, Wiley Davis, Rod Hicks, Jr., Brad Poindexter and Doug Poindexter. Interment followed in DeBolt Cemetery, Arnett, Oklahoma under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK 16-May-1987
