She passed away on Feburary 12, 2000. Her youth was spent around the beautiful mountain lake and hills of southeast Oklahoma in Heavener with her brother Sharon G. Bryan. Her family had many ties to missionaries, particularly to China, which had an impact on her sense of Christian Service. She accepted Christ into her life at age 12. Her stong sense of commitment and energy quickly found opportunities to inspire and serve the youth of her chuch by teaching Sunday School. Her college studies in art, design and the sciences were carried out at Southeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Wilbruton, and Oklahoma A& M Colldge, Stillwater. On December 28, 1937 she married Kenneth William Ballard of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Their early married life was spent in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas near Donna. Then they moved to western Oklahoma near Reydon where they began farming. With the beginning of a family, they moved to Oklahoma City and then to Wewoka in 1949. In support of her husband's career, she served multiple generations of youth of Wewoka through Ballard's School Store. Her many years of service not only contributed to her family's comfort, but also made possible her son's formal education. Service to her Lord was through her personal witness of the importance of church, family, curisoity, and education. She continued teaching her beliefs to her expanded family of daughter- in-law and grandsons. A personal highlight of Geneva's was celebrating with the community of Wewoka, family and friends, their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1987, and pride in 63 years of marriage to Kenneth. Geneva is survived by her husband Kenneth William Ballard, Wewoka; her son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Garla Kay Ballard, Mendocino, California; her grandsons, Blaine Cullen Ballard, Santa Cruz, California, and Brant Kerwin Ballard, serving the U.S. Army near Seoul, Korea. Her parents Gordon and Cora Bryan of Heavener, Oklahoma and her borhter, Sharon G. Bryan of Texarkana, Tewxas, preceded her in death. Services were held Tuesday, February 154, 2000 at the First Baptist Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Interment was at the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK --------------------------------------------------------------------
