Blurton, 86, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Bell officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Blurton was born March 7, 1918, in Crawford, Okla. He married Winifred Morris on Nov. 21, 1941, in Gray, Okla. He served with the 4th infantry in combat on Attu Island, Alaska. After returning from military service in 1945, he was employed by Ochiltree County maintaining county roads. He worked for Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America at Gray, Okla. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wheatheart Shriners and Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lula Blurton; a sister; and a brother. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Beverly Merchant of Irving, Barbara Vance and Verna Blurton, both of Dallas, and Wanda Street of Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren, Tracie Merchant, Lexye Street and Samuel Street; and three sisters, Ruby Klein of Monroe City, Mo., Arlee Githens of Perryton and Gean Barnett of Phoenix. The family suggests memorials be to Opportunity Plan, P.O. Box 1035, Canyon, TX 79015; or Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 738, Perryton, TX 79070.
