The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== The Elk City Daily News, Elk City, OK Funeral services for Harry Bowen were conducted Monday, January 6, at 2:00 p.m. from the United Methodist Church with Rev. Gaary Harber and Rev. Mark Little officiating. Burial followed in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Elk City, Bekcham County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home. Harry Bowen was born May 12, 1911 in Canute, to Walter and Sarah Short Bowen and died Saturday at the age of 85. He graduated from Canute High School in 1931. Harry was married to Laverne Mize on October 21, 1939 in Elk City and they made their home in Elk City where they have lived since. Harry retired from the Elk City Cleaners and Laundry after 40 years of service in 1980. He has been a member of the United Methodist Church since 1948. Survivors include; his wife, Lavrerne Bowen of the Elk City home; two children, Clara Jean Lehrman and her husband, Larry of enterprise, AL and Harry Dean Bowen and his wife, Betty Louise of Elk City; one brother, James Bowen of Caarter and five wsisters, Irene Bowen of Carter, Bessie Brewer, Marie Daavis, Nadine Black all of Elk City and Virginia Church of Sentinel; four grandchildren; Don Lehrman and his wife Ginger of Huntsville, AL, Gregory Lehrman of Apple Valley, CA; Tracy Bowen of Bedford, TX; and Melissa Bowen of Clinton and three great grandchdildren; Robyn and Hannah Lehrman of Huntsville, AL, and Gabrielle Bowen of Elk City. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother and one half sister, Myrtle Simmons.
