Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18 at the Whinery-Savage Chapel in Elk City with Ray Smart officating. Burial was in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, OK under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Home of Elk City. Mrs. Bonser, the daughter of Viola Ethel and Egar Bliss Stephenson, was born on April 11, 1934, in Sherman, Texas. She married Bobby Clayton Bonser on Dec. 31, 1952, in her sister's home. She served in the U.S. Air Force from July 1952 until April 1953. While Mr. Bonser continued serving in the Air Force, they lived in Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Alaska, Oregon and then back in Texas. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1971, they moved to Western Oklahoma. In 1983, they moved to Cordell to make their home. Mrs. Bonser attended nursing school and graduated at the top of her class in 1980. She was a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and worked in hospitals in Cheyenne, Chickasha, Elk City and Clinton, retiring from Cordell Memorial Hospital in 1995 due to illness. She always put others first and she lived ro her husband, children, grandchildren, other family members and friends. She was known for her compassion, humor and the ability to know when to say the right words and when to just listen. She was baptized at the Durham Baptist Church in 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Dennis Lee Bonser in 1976, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband, Bobby, of the home; four daughtgers, Phyllis JoAnn Duke of Elk City, Lenda Diane Nance and Valerie JoEl Bonser, both of Cordell, and Anita Joy Connally of Duncanville, Texas; one son, Robert Mehlon Bonser of Elk City; three sisters, Martha McAdoo of Garland, Texas, Margaret Daniels of Maybank, Texas, and Virginia Morriss of Sherman, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jenna JoEl Duke, Caleb Perkins, Amanda Perkins, Travis Suttle, Sara Suttle, Jayson Bonser and Bailey armstrong; and several other relatives and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
