Bonds was born on June 13, 1910 in Port, Oklahoma and died June 3, 1988 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 77. Violet, the daughter of Walter Samuel and Mae Yarbough Coleman, married Cecil Goffrey Bonds in Clinton on Aug 8, 1928. They owned and operated restaurants in Cheyenne, Elk City and Sayre for several years. In 1953 they established a dairy farm in the Rose Hill community south of Cheyenne which they operated for 16 years. Violet spent many hours working in her orchards, flowers and vegetable gardens that she loved so much. After he husband's death in 1973, she sold the farm and moved to cheyenne where she became active in the Women's Society of the Methodist Church. She was also active in the Cheyenne Platonic Club, Rebekka Lodge and was a member of the Eastern Star for almost 40 years. In 1975 she and her two sons were baptised in the pond on the farm they loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors are: 2 daughters, Colleen McKean of Carlsbad, NM, and Janette Brown of Stillwater, Ok; 2 sons, Manford and Gary Bonds, both of Sayre; 2 brothers, Wilson Coleman of Lincoln, Ark, and Billy Boyd Coleman of Renton, WA; 4 sisters, Jewell Dovell; Pearl Robinson; Lillie Stewart; Omega Frost, all of Oakdale, Calif; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
