Funeral services were held Thursday, March 14, 1996 at the cheyenne First Baptist church with Alberta Helton officiating. Burial was in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne. Mr. Berry, the son of Hattie Belle and Samuel T. Berry, was born on April 7, 1918, in Red Moon, Okla. He was raised in Durham and attended school at Midway. In 1938, he married Irene Hooten and they had three daughters. In his early years, Mr. Berry farmed and worked part-time as a carpenter. After moving to New Mexico in 1950, a fourth daughter was born to Mr. Berry. He returned to Cheyenne in 1964, where he owned and operated his own business. He married Louise Cantrell in 1971 in Sayre and they lived in Clinton until 1983, when they returned to Cheyenne to make their home. His hobbies included gardening, cooking and playing dominoes, but his favorite hobby was fishing. Many people often saw him riding around town with his favorite sidekick, Kyle Wayne. He was a member of the Reydon Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 23 years, Louise; one sister, Alia; three brothers, John, Bryan and Tom; and one stepson, Kelly Cantrell. He is survived by four daughters, Jaynell Stewart and husband, James of Mountainaire, NM, Beverly Jo Muse and husband, Joe, of Los Lumcas, NM, Vicky Lynn Hone of Las Vegas and Linda Salazaar of Albuquerque; three stepdaughters, Janice Boatman and husband, LeRoy of Elk City, Paulette Wesner and husband, Keith, of Cheyenne, and Vickie Maxwell and husband, Doug, of Vici; two stepsons, Tony Cantrell and Benny Cantrell, both of Amarillo; one sister, Ruby Douglas of Lawton; one sister-in-law, Edrae Berry of Cheyenne; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
