Burks, son of the late Benjamin and Molly Wheeler Burks, was born Dec 2, 1925 at Reydon and was reared and educated in that area. Charles entered the U.S. Army, serving during WWII and received his honorable discharge from the 96 Infantry in Feb. of 1946. He was united in marriage to Alene Frankford on May 21, 1944 in Reydon, Okla. Charles started to work for Haliburton in 1954 and worked for them until Jan. 15, 1976 when he retired. He continued to work as a cattleman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cushing and a member of Veterans of Foreign War. Survivors includ: his wife, Mrs. Alene Burks of the home; 2 daughters, Mrs. Larry (Sandrea) Hough of Goodwell, Mrs. Terry (Daria) Hoggatt of Cushing; his mother and father-in-law, R.J. (Babe) and Bessie Frankford of Cheyenne; 3 grandchildren, Lance, Mickey and Brian; 1 brother, Ben Burks of Dumas; 1 sister, Martha Wilder, Santa Ana, Calif. Charles H. Burks, Rt. 1, Cushing, Okla., passed away Monday, March 6, 1989 in Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 63. Funeral services will be Thurs., March 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Cushing with Dr. James Reynolds officiating. Funeral services will also be held Friday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the Reydon Baptist Church in Reydon, Okla. Burial will follow in the Dempsey Cemetery, Roger Mills County, OK under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Home.
