Charlie Floyd and Rev. Jeff Avery officiating. Burial followed in the Erick Cemetery, Erick, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Elizabeth Ollie Brooks was born april 16, 1916 at Strong City to J.R. and Ollie Stroud and died early Saturday July 12, 1997 at the age of 81. Elizabeth was one of nine children and attended school at Strong City and Sandstone Community with her family when she was a young woman. Her parents farmed in the area. She met and was married to Albert Simmons and one son; J.R. Simmons was born to this union. She was then married to Ross Brooks in 1941 at Erick, He was serving in the US Army at that time and they were transferred to March Field, at Riverside, California. She worked at Lockheed Aircraft at Burbank, California where she bolted planes and wiring. After the war the Brooks returned to the Erick Community where they were engaged in farming. To this marriage, three children were born, Glenda Sue; Charles and Gary. Elizabeth was also a nurse at the Erick Hospital and later worked at Cal's Cafe. She was preceded in death by her husband; Ross and a daughter, Glenda Sue. Elizabeth became a Christian at a very early age and was a long time member of the Erick Baptist Church. Survivors include: three sons, J.R. Simmons and his wife, Gladys of Elk City, Gary Brooks and his wife, Paula of Elk City and Charles Brooks and his wife, Gay Lene of Midwest City; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one sister, Melisia Johnson of Littleton, Colorado.
