Mr. Bowers moved to Mobeetie, TX with his parents at an early age. In his early twenties he homesteaded south of Cheyenne. On June 29, 1919 he and Carrie Addie Jencks were united in marriage in Cheyenne. They lived on the homestead until moving to twon in 1961. In 1979 he made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Wayne and Carol Ann Batterton. He had been a member of the Cheyenne United Methodist Church for a number of years, and a member of the Kiwanis Club. Mrs. Bowers was a veteran of WWI and a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 1 sister and 5 brothers. Survivors include 2 daughters: Carol Ann Batterton of Cheyenne; Addie May Griffin of Denver, CO; 3 sons: Raymond Bowers of Muskogee, OK; Charles and Leroy Bowers of Cheyenne, OK; 16 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and also 3 nieces: Ova Howard and Vada Dawkins of Sayre, OK and Oweta Owen of Clinton, OK. Funeral Services were conducted Friday, May 4, 1984 with Garland Spurgin and Ray Smart officiating. Interment followed in the Cheyenne Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Cheyenne. Active pallbearers were Doyle Smith, Murl Little, J.W. Little, Jack Davis, Lloyd Martin and Bob Little. Honorary pallbearers were S.C.
