Briggs was born December 11, 1917 near Durham, OK to Eba Lucille and Thurman Earle Briggs and passed away June 20, 1995 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 9 days. Robert graduated from Crawford High School in 1938 and married Beth Mae Hanawalt on March 18, 1939 in Roll, Oklahoma. They lived in the Crawford/Durham Community before moving to Cheyenne in 1946. They moved to Altus, Oklahoma in 1970 where Robert worked for the United States Soil Conservation Service until his retirement in 1980 when they returned to Cheyenne to make their home. He was a member of Cheyenne First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Beth, of the home; 1 daughter/son-in- law, Sherry and Jerry Jones, Drumright, OK; 1 son, Larry and Michelle Briggs; 1 brothers, Sherman Briggs, Las Cruces, NM, Loel Briggs, San Antonio, TX; 3 sisters, Wenona Moore, Cheyenne, OK, Nadine Davis, Amarillo, TX, Joan Decker, Woodland, CA; 7 grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Services were June 22, 1995 at the Cheyenne First Baptist Church officiated by Paul Nachtigall, and assisted by Terrell Rhomberg.
