He passed from this life at his home in McCloud, Oklahoma, Thursday morning February 4, 1982. Mr. Briggs was married to Helen Reust, August 17, 1931, in Arnett, Oklahoma. They lived in Strong City, Oklahoma; California; and in 1996 moved to MccCloud, Oklahoma. He was a farmer and veteran of World War II. Mr. Briggs was preceded in death by his wife; his father; and 2 brothers. Survivors include his mother, Eva Lucille Briggs, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; 5 sisters, Zenobia Riley, Dumas, Texas, Juanita Walker, Corpus Christi, Texas, Wenona Moore, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Nadine Davis, Amarillo, Texas, and Joan Decker, Woodland, California; 4 brothers, Cyril Briggs, Merced, California, Robert Briggs, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Loel Briggs, San Antonio, Texas, and Sherman Briggs, Las Cruces, New Mexico; nieces and nephews. Services were conducted by Aubrey Cowan, Monday, February 8, 1982, at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Cheyenne, Cheyenne, with interment following in the Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Active Pallbearers were James Orgain, Weldon Davis, Buster Miller, Troy Miller, Joe Davis, and Clovis Miller. Honorary Pallbearers were Clyde Stamper, Harold Gwartney, Ocie Bailey and Eldon Boswell. Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne was in charge of arrangements.
