Berger Herbert F. Berger, 76, of 2959 Sundance Circle, died Wednesday at Memorial General Hospital. He was in the insurance business in Las Cruces form 1958 until his retirement in 1982. He served on the state board of directors of New Mexico Life Underwriters and was a past president of the local association. He was active in civic and community affairs and served as president of the Las Cruces Kiwania Club. He had been director and president of the Chamber of Commerce and was one of the organizers and first president of the Conquistadores. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church, where he had served as chariman of the deacons. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Price and C.E. Whitlow officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens under the arrangements of Graham's Mortuary. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; a son, Richard of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Vesnelle Rorris of Burley, Idaho, Frankie McPherson and Ginny Miller, both of Las Cruces; a sister, Doris Gowdy of Canute, Oklahoma and 12 grandchildren. Herbert Berger was a native of western Oklahom and a Leedey businessman several years beofre moving to Las Cruces. Our sympathy goes to Catherine and her family.
