Barker was born August 26, 1899 in Valetie, Iowa in Jasper County to Richard and Mary Barker. He passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 1977, at Truth or Consequences, New Mexico at the age of 77 years. He left us the way he had hoped in the midst of enjoying life with his wife and friends. He saw many happy moments and dreams come true. His parents moved to Rankin, Oklahoma in 19089 where he grew to manhood. Earl Barker married Miss Dora Wright on June 13, 1925, in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Wright. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in June of 1975 with their children, family and friends. Earl was a life time member of the First Baptist Church. He was a farmer-rancher and served our Country in World War I. Mr. and Mrs. Barker were blessed with two children, Erma Lea Burns, Cheyenne, and Roy Elwin Barker, Reydon, Oklahoma. He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory, his wife, Dora, of the home address; their children, Erma Lea Burns, and husband, Billie Burns, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; and Roy Elwin Barker, and his wife, Barbara of Reydon, Oklahoma; Six Grandchildren Billy Earl Burns, Doran Burns, Cheryl Castor, Elwyne Jene, Ramona and Michael Barker and several great grandchildren. Five sisters, Vera Byers, Truxton; and Leora Sullenberger, Kingman, both in Arizona; Edith Brown, Grimes, Creda MIller, Texola; Ruth Hughes, Los Alamos, New Mexico, four brothers: Fred, Clarkdale, Arizona, O.F., Reydon, Oklahoma; Glen, Phoenix, Arizona; and Arthur T., Durham, Oklahoma; His aunts and uncles, Clara Barker, Gainesville, Georgia; Dollie Schilling, Eva Schilling, and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Bravard, all in Jefferson, Iowa and a host of other relatives and friends. Earl has gone to join his father and mother, and 3 sisters, Ruby Barker, Mildred Butler and Hazel Howell in Eternal Life. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 9, 1977, at 2:00 p.m. in the Reydon Community Building. Services were officiated by Rev. Eddie Overstreet, pastor of the First Baptist Church Reydon; and assisted by Rev. Bob Guynn, Assembly of God pastor.
