Hawkins Bird was born May 25, 1921 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Alice E. and Claud C. Hawkins. She passed away Novembeer 4, 2005 at the Erick Nursing Center, Erick, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 9 days. The family lived in Beckham County until 1939 when they moved north of Durham, Oklahoma in 1945, she moved to Pampa, Texas and she was married to Carl W. Bird at Amarillo, Texas on January 24 of that year. They remained in Pampa, Texas later moving to California where they lived for a couple of years before returing to Pampa. After Mr. Bird passed away, Wand moved back to Oklahoma and made her home in Sayre. Wanda was saved and baptized in Pampa and was currently a member of the Durham Baptist Church. Survivors include two borthers, J.C. Hawkins, Amarillo, Texas and Dewitt Hawkins of Durham, Oklahoma; her niece and nephews, Kent Hawkins, Kathy Hawkins and Paul Owen; and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice. Services were held on Monday, November 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Chapel officiated by Ray Smart. Burial will be 2:00 p.m., at Fairview Cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
