The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Floyd Barton was born September 6, 1902 in Hood County, Texas on the Pluxy River where his grandparents settled when they left Alabama for Texas. He passed away March 15, 1998 at home in Pr Village Comanche, Texas. He was 95 years and 6 months. When Floyd was one month old his parents, some uncles and families loaded what they owned in covered wagons, took their cattle and horses, left Texas for western Oklahoma. His father Robert Barton took a job working for Slack and Dunn for small wages to help expenses. They lived in a dug out on the Dunn Ranch till Robert and Ella Ford Barton brough their first land and moved to their new 1 room home where they added more land for several years. Floyd lived on that land till 1975 when He and wife Helen sold out, retired, traveling then brought their home in Texas. It was his desire to be buried in the Rock Church Cemetery close by the Pluxy River where his grandparents, his great grandmother, uncles and aunts are buried. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK 14-May-1998
