She departed this life at the Cheyenne hospital January 6, 1960 after a lingering illness, at the age of 77 years. At the age of 9 years she moved with her parents to Hood County, Texas. On November 29, 1900 she was married to Robert E. Barton in Paluxy, Texas. In 1902 she and her husband moved to Roger Mills County Oklahoma where they homesteaded in what is known as the Bell View community, and which place Mrs. Barton claimed as her home until her death. To Mr. and Mrs. Barton 12 children were born. Her husband, Robert E. Barton, one son, Melvin Earl, two daughters, Ruby and Faye, and four infants preceeded her in death. At the early age of 18 years Mrs. Barton united with the Church of Christ to which faith she was faithful throughout life. Mrs. Barton was one of those pioneers who helped to make possible the advantages of modern life in this county. She and her husband helped in the formation of the Bell View school district one of the early schools of old Day county. She became a member of the Home Demostration Club of her community at its organization and remained an active member as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Barton was one who, apparently was strengthened by the cares of life and remained a strong character until the time came for her to lay down her life. The immediate survivors include her two daughters, Mrs. Lewis Neu of Lancaster, California and Mrs. Jim Brown of Durham, Oklahoma; three sons, Floyd of Crawford, Fred of Cheyenne and Milburn of Lancaster, Caalifornia; twenty grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Alice McAlester, Lubbock, Texas, Mrs. Elolen Parker, Tolor, Texas, and a half-sister, Mrs. Wimmie Baker of Oklahoma City; two half brothers, George, Portland, Oregon, and Leonard of Odessa, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
