She passed away October 21, 2004 at Corn, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 20 days. Veta Pearl spent her younger years in Eldorado, Oklahoma. She moved with her family to Crawford when she was 15. She later met Fred Barton and they were married on January 23, 1932 at Arnett, Oklahoma. They lived in the Durham and Crawford area until moving west of Cheyenne in 1947. After Fred passed away in 1967, she moved into Cheyenne to make her home. She was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant granddaughter, Eugenia Reyna Barton, a grandson, Robert E. Barton, II, and 1 sister, Nanetta Holt. Survivors include one daughter, Yonzell Vogt, Weatherfiord, Oklahoma; four sons, Robert Barton, Reydon, Oklahoma, Ray and wife, Georgetta Barton, McAlester, Oklahoma, Kauk Barton and wife, Joanne, Claredon, Texas, and Jim R. Barton and wife Alice, Arapaho, Oklahoma, twelve grandchildren, Connie Vogt Sears, Tony Ivan Vogt, David Barton, Karmin Adams. Debbie Forrester, Marlo Barton, Raylyn Hunter, Toni Rae King, Julie Chastain, Greg Barton and Brandon Fred Barton; 24 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a hosy of other relatives and friends. Services were held October 25, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist officiated by Terrell Romberg and Jeff Hurlbut. Burial will be at Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
