Ninth St. She passed away Friday morning in Artesia General Hospital. She was 67. The Rev. Joseph Tillery and the Rev. Walt Isaacs officiated the service. Burial was in the Woodbine Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born May 1, 1919 in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. On November 1, 1947, she was married to J.W. Brown in Portales. Her husband preceded her in death on March 12, 1979. She came to Artesia in 1947 from Loving and was owner and operator of Marie's Beauty Shop. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Brown is survived by one daughter, Darla E. Funk of Artesia; one son, Don C. Jones, of Denver, Colorado; five brothers, Frank, Claude, Ernest, Glen and Everett Hubbard of Oklahoma. Other survivors include three sisters, Mildred Wood, Carrie Jones and Winifred McMurtry, all of Oklahoma; three grandsons, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter. Serving as pallbearers were Gene Pettit, Don Lancaster, Clarence Sperling, John Gibson, Frank Funk and Gary Ryan.
