He was the son of Godfrey and Katherine Madder Brown of Switzerland. He passed from this life Tuesday, October 10, 1989 while in Veterans Hospital, Oklahoma City at the age of ninety-two years. In his early childhood he moved with his parents to Portal, North Dakota, and lived in several localities for shor periods of time before moving to Peak, Oklahoma, when twenty years of age. John Otto was a Veteran of WWI. He was inducted on September 4, 1918 and received his Honorable Discharge at Camp Logan ofn February 4, 1919. His Commanding Officer stated in his Discharge papers that John O. Brown was of very Good Character and served his country honestly and faithfully. Mr. Brown chose farming as his occupation and following his return from military service he again began his work on the farm which he pursued until his retirement. When no longer able to live alone he made his home with his siter, Rose Moore of Arnett. Mr. Brown was a member of the Baptist Church and also of the American Legion. He enjoyed the friendship of many people and the love of his family, including his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoor life of the indepentent farmer where he was free to spend many hours in his chosen way of life. John Otto Brown was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Kate Bove and Bertha Bethell and four brothers, Freddie and Jack Brown and his twin brothers, Wilmer and Elmer Brown. His is survived by two sisters, Rose Moore of Arnett and Emma Callfas of Chicago, Illinois, one brother, Arnold and sister-in-law, Faye of Arnett, seven nieces and eight nephews and many friends. He was a nephew of the late John and Rosa Brown and a cousin of the late Otto Brown, all of the Canadian area in Roger Mills County, northwest of Leedey, Oklahoma. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Ok
