Brann, Roger Mills County Clerk succumbed Friday, November 10, 1961 after a serious illness of about ten days. Although he had been in poor health for several months. Mr. Brann carried on the duties of his office until one week prior to his passing. He had served as county clerk the past 18 years. So efficient was his work and popular was he as a county officer that hed had been unopposed for the office since his first election. Prior to becoming a county officer Mr. Brann was manager of the White Lumber Company in Cheyenne until it passed out of existence. He was a member of the Baptist church, the Masonic lodge of which he served as secretary for the past 25 years, past president of ther Kiwanis Club, past president of the Cheyenne Golf Club and president of the Cheyenne Cemetery Association. In the funeral sermon delivered Sunday afternoon, Rev. Laddie Adams, pastor of the local Baptist church, characterized Fred Brann as a 100 percent man," a phrase that applied to his life. Every task Mr. Brann undertook he gave it 100 percent of his ability. Although 78 years of age at the time of his passing, he still gave 100 perent efficiency to the office of county clerk. Fred G. Brann was born February 8, 1883, Martin, Tennessee. On September 22, 1909, Fred G. Brann was married to Myrtle Douglas of Cheyenne. They established a home in Cheyenne then and he and his wife had resided here continously since that time. To them was born one son, Douglas G. Brann. Immediate survivors are the wife Myrtle of the home address, the son, Douglas G. Brann, wife and three children of Woodward. The Baptist church in this city was filled with friends and relatives who came Sunday afternoon to pay last respects to one who had lived and served the community for more than half a century. Assisting Rev. Laddie Adams in the services were Rev. Leonard Cronin, pastor of the Methodist church at Fairview, a long-time friend of the family and Rev. Clayton Hughes, pastor of the local Methodist church. Sitting in a group were the officers of Roger Mills county and in another group members of the Masonic Order. He was laid to rest beneath a mound of flowers, expressions of love from friends and relatives in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Scroggins Funeral Home in charge of burial services. He so lived that when hisa summons came to "join that innumerable caravan on its way to the pale realms of shade where each shall take his chamber in the silent halls of death." he went "not like the quatry slave at nigh scourged to his dungeon but sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust" approached his grave "like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams."
