Apparently they were a pair of newlyweds driving from California to Indiana. Saturday about noon, the body of a Negro woman was found in the river, but she had no identification on her. She was wearing an engagement and wedding ring. Monday, W.F. Fritts, a farmer of near Carter, found an overnight case, a man's billfold, a man's shoe and a pillow case on the south shore of the river near Sayre, downstream from the bridge which washed out in Thursday night's flood. Inside the billfold was a driver's license issued to Robert Grady Brown, 38, a Negro of 602 Pleasant Avenue, Michigan City, Indiana. Sheriff's officers called the office of that railroad in Michigan and learned that Brown had left there about April 30, 1951 on his vacation. He said he was going to California to marry a beauty operator. He was due back to work last Saturday, and had not returned yet. In the medicine bag, two medicine bottles was found, one of which had a label on it which showed it was filled for Wanzette Davidson by a drug store in Richmond, California. It was filled on May 1st, 1951. The time of the accident about 4 a.m. Friday tallies with the possibility that the occupant of the death car were heading for Indiana in time to get there Saturday.
