Burns was born November 20, 1921 in Cheyenne, OK to Beulah Sue and George William Burns and passed away October 30, 1995 in the Roger Mills Memorial hospital at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 10 days. Billie graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1941 and entered the United States Navy where he served his country during World Warr II as Chief Gunners Mate on a Troop Ship in the South Pacific. Billie was involved in the battle of Iwo Jima, Okinawa and was on one of the first ships in Saipan. After returning home he married Erma Lee Barker on June 19, 1946 in Reydon, OK. They moved north of Cheyenne where Billie farmed and ranched. He served as the gam ranger from 1952 until 1959. He was a member of the Cheyenne United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Erma Lea, of the home; 1 daughter Cheryl Castor, Cheyenne, OK; 2 sons/daughters in law, Billiy Earl and Sadie Burns, Saguache, CO and Doran and Anne' Marie Burns, Elk City, OK; 1 sister/brother in law, Lorraine and Freeman Seago, Tyler, TX; his mother in law, Dora Barker, Cheyenne, OK; 1 brother and sister in law, Roy E. and Melva Barker, Reydon, OK; long time family friend Leota Conway, Cheyenne, OK: 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, 4 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Novermber 2, 1995 at the Cheyenne United Methodist Church officiated by Andy Taylor and assited by Alberta Helton.
