Violet Burns was born June 13, 1916 in Rankin, Oklahoma to Jane Evelyn and John Andrew Meyers and died Wednesday, December 25, 2002 in Elk City in her home at the age of 86. Violet attended school at Mt. Rose and married John J Burns at Reydon on January 16, 1936 they livedf and farmed in the Reydon community. In 1983 John began workin in road construction and they lived in several communities in Oklahoma, before moving to Elk City in 1976 to make their home. She was a member of the Nazarene faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sons, Geral Dwayne and Willard Larry, six brothers and four sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Thurma Jean Stone and husband, Keith of Edmond, Oklahoma, one son, Dennis Lynn Burnsw and wife, Jane of Katy, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Joy Burns of Sayre,Oklahoma; three sisters-in-law,Mary Meyers of Cheyenne, Mamie Meyers of Pampa, Texas, Ether Burns of Sangor, California; three great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and host of friends and relatives.
