John William Barnes, 70, of Wichita, Kansas, died Monday, January 18, 1988 
in St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 
10:30 a.m. at the Sayre Church of Christ with Eddie Beard officiating. 
Burial will be in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, 
Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre.

Mr. Barnes, son of James and Nellie Banres, was born July 20, 1917 in 
Berlin. He moved with his parents to Colorado in 1920 and moved back to 
Berlin in 1930. He married Jewell Marshall July 1, 1939 west of Sayre. 
After their marriage they lived in the Grimes Community and moved to 
Wichita in 1952.

He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his 
parents. He is survived by his wife Jewell; two brothers, Hobart Barnes, 
New Haven, Conn.; Norman Barnes, of McLoud; three sisters, Gertrude 
Zeigler, Anthony, Kansas; Faye Heim, Amhurst, Texas; Nelona Campbell, of 
Sayre.
