Her parents, Yeakley "Pop" and Allie Smith, moved their growing family to Tolbert, exas, and on to Carter, Oklahoma by covered wagon in 1923. She was only a toddler and R.E. an infant, but her older siblings, Melvin, Cecil, and Veta Fay remembered the exciting events surrounding that crossing of the Red River. On ew Year's Day, 1926, the family later moved to Crawford where the family later came into completion with the birth of the twins, Jaciedean and Imogene. Wanda attended the Crawford schools. After graduation from high school in 1940, she moved to San Luis Obispo, California, where her oldest brother, Cecil and hife Opal, were living, met a railway co-worker of Cecil's, and after a 2 week courtship, married Marvin Brinkley Sr. in 1941. Maevin and Wanda enjoyed 56 years of marriage and had 2 wonderful children, Steve and Elizabetg Ann. They lived most of their married lives in the Phoenix, Arizona area where Marvin worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a yard switchman. Upon retirement, they moved to Tucson. After Marvin passed away, in 1997, Wanda moved to Sun City, Arizona, so she could be involved in a lot of activities. She enjoyed walking, crocheting, sewing and was very active in her LDS church. Wanda passed away July 30, 2004, being preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Brinkley Wilson, and her granddaughter, Valeri Wilson, both of San Diego, California, her brothers, Melvin Smith of Columbus, Ohio, and R.E. Smith, of Texas City, Texas, her sister, Veta Fay Smith Pratts, of Roll, Oklahoma, a half-brother, Everett Beaver, of Anson, Texas and a half-sister, Effie Beaver also of Anson. Those alive to honor her memory are her son, Steve and his wife, Susan of Prescott, Arizona, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her sister, Imogene Wilcox, of Borger, Texas, her brothers, Cecil Smith and his wife Betty, of Elk City, Jackiedean Smith and his wife, Wilma, of Borger, Texas, and a wholle host of nephews and nieces and other relatives. Services were held August 3, 2004, at yhe LSD Chapel in Sun City, Arizona, interment at Tucson, Arizona.
